Blues credibility doesn’t get any deeper or more real than Robert Lockwood Jr. On Delta Crossroads, the 85-year-old Delta bluesman lays out a heartfelt homage to the immortal Robert Johnson, his guitar teacher, close friend, role model and possibly step-father. Playing the acoustic 12-string guitar and singing with uncommon authority, Lockwood delivers unaccompanied, bone-chilling renditions of Johnson classics like “32-20 Blues”, “Stop Breakin’ Down Blues” “Mr. Downchild”, “Love In Vain Blues” and “I Believe I’ll Dust My Broom”, along with authentically earthy readings of Leroy Carr’s “Mean Mistreater Mama” and “In the Evening”, Lightnin’ Hopkins’ “C.C. Rider” and “Key to the Highway”, which Lockwood says was written by Jazz Gillum and not Big Bill Broonzy, who usually gets credit. This purely acoustic offering is a rich tribute and a must for Delta fanatics.

Robert Len has a varied and impressive track record. A veteran of the Montreal International Jazz Festival, he has also played Montreal's Olympic Stadium with Orchestre Métropolitain and the Toronto Jazz Festival with the Denny Christianson Big Band. Over the years Len has developed a passion for multi-ethnic instruments, particularly flutes and percussion. The music he creates on "Fragile", in which passion, fieriness, freedom and zen spirit become entangled, is especially appealing.

The Lord of the Rings is an epic film trilogy consisting of three fantasy adventure films based on the three-volume book of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien. The films are The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003). The films were directed by Peter Jackson and distributed by New Line Cinema. Considered to be one of the biggest and most ambitious movie projects ever undertaken, with an overall budget of $285 million, the entire project took eight years, with the filming for all three films done simultaneously and entirely in Jackson's native New Zealand. Each film in the trilogy also had Special Extended Editions, released on DVD a year after the theatrical releases. While the films follow the book's general storyline, they do omit some of the plot elements from the novel and include some additions to and other deviations from the source material.

In January 1956, veteran tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins recorded a dozen songs, eight with a string orchestra and four accompanied by a big band, all arranged by Billy Byers. Hawkins is the main soloist throughout the CD reissue, and he was still very much in his prime 33 years after he first joined Fletcher Henderson's orchestra; in fact…

Bestiary by Robert Rich is unlike anything we've ever heard by this prolific explorer in electronic sound. It is a piece in constant transition and quite possibly the ultimate example of "glurp", that sonic representation of squish. Throughout Rich's music is the underlying metaphysical principle of the inseparable relationship of the part from the whole. So what better instrument to realize Bestiary with than the MOTM synthesizer; a modern modular system whose totality is greater than the sum of its modules. This versatile method of music making gives the artist extensive and immediate control over critical aspects of sound design. By tweaking dials, flipping switches and plugging patchcords, Rich's hands are constantly altering the energy within the music…

Drive is a 2003 album by British musician Robert Palmer and his fourteenth solo studio album, and his last album before his death. Drive was critically hailed as the grittiest and most heartfelt album of his career. Initially approached by guitarist Carl Carlton to contribute to the 2001 Robert Johnson tribute album Hellhound on My Trail, for which Palmer recorded "Milk Cow's Calf Blues" with Carlton on guitars, Palmer was then invited by Faye Dunaway to provide the soundtrack to her 2001 directorial debut The Yellow Bird, set in Mississippi and New Orleans during the 1940s and 1950s. Palmer took both signs as a good omen, and the impetus for Drive was born.

Continuing the series 'Bach's Contemporaries', this volume concentrates on the wonderful music of Johann Schelle — a cousin of Kuhnau (another composer featured in this series). This immensely striking sacred music by Schelle (one of Bach's predecessors in the post of Kantor in Leipzig's famous Thomas Church) brings together a top-flight group of soloists and a large and colourful assembly of instrumentalists, and presents remarkable and splendidly varied music which not only stands up proudly in its own musical right, but also greatly enhances our understanding of Bach's own sacred writing.
