Anita O'Day is one of the very best jazz vocalists of all time. Her recordings for Norman Granz represent her best recorded work. Here it all is. The sound quality of these CDs is better than any others of the same recordings. I know because I have them all, in shellac, in vinyl, in CD. In addition, the booklet that comes with the set, like the ones in all Mosaic sets, is first class. Well written, nice photos, accurate information. The one shortfall is that Anita was very much a visual artist, the way she worked, led the band, her timing all that was fascinating to watch and of course other than the photos in the booklet, this is an entirely audio experience. Without question this is the best Anita you will ever hear. It is a shame that it is out of print.

One in a string of six albums that jazz vocalist Anita O'Day made while performing in Japan during the mid-'70s. These were done as she was returning to the stage after a bout with drugs and alcohol. This was also issued on her own label.
Few female singers matched the hard-swinging Anita O'Day for sheer exuberance and skill in all areas of jazz vocals: her splendid improvising, wide range, dynamic tone, and innate sense of rhythm made her one of the most enjoyable singer of the age. O'Day's first appearances in a big band shattered the traditional image of a demure female vocalist by swinging just as hard as the other musicians on the bandstand, best heard on her vocal trading with Roy Eldridge on the Gene Krupa recording "Let Me Off Uptown"…

Michael Thompson Bands’s first, and so far only live show in Europe, happened on a magic night on Saturday, April 28, 2018, when in front of an awed crowed, Michael Thompson, together with Larry King on vocals, Larry Antonino and Guy Allison (Unruly Child) on bass and keyboards respectively, and Sergio Gonzalez on drums, performed a set which created a special kind of AOR magic at the Live Music Club in Milan, IT. Cherrypicking the best songs from their now legendary debut album “How Long” and offering some previews from the then upcoming album “Love and Beyond”, MTB offered a magnificent hour long set which delighted all the fans in attendance. This is a one of a kind magic performance and if you were not there, thne now you can see what you missed!
