UK two CD collection. From 1963 through to the mid-70's, The Hollies had more hits than even the Beatles. In that period alone, they had 17 UK Top Ten hits, while 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' gave them a second #1 hit when re-released in 1988 ('I'm Alive' had been their first chart topper back in 1965). This double disc collection contains 48 tracks focusing on The Hollies' '60s and '70s recordings but brings their story to the present day with selections from their 2009 album Then, Now, Always plus two previously unissued live recordings from their 2009 UK tour. This anthology is a superb testament to one of Britain's best-loved groups and one of it's most original and innovative - combining soaring and distinctive harmonies, brilliantly crafted songs and cultivated, often experimental musicianship and arrangements. Sometimes perfection is a real bore. In an age where karaoke puppets and corporate niche marketing have rubbed any rough edges from our aural diet, it comes as quite a shock to hear stuff like this. For, while most of this material stems from a timeframe and genre that prided itself on its musical ability, it's by no means a smooth and unchallenging ride. Even Richard Madeley's favourite band, the Moody Blues (who provide the title track to this anthology) sound edgy and mysterious to modern ears. And yet it all fell under the banner of the mighty Decca label.

In 2016, Cherry Red’s psychedelic imprint Grapefruit Records released the 3CD set ‘Let’s Go Down And Blow Our Minds’, a hugely successful, widely-acclaimed anthology of lysergically- inclined music made in Britain during the epochal year of 1967. In response to the many requests we’ve received, here’s the long-awaited second volume, housed like its predecessor in a clamshell box with a lavishly annotated and illustrated 48- page booklet. Featuring 79 mind-melting tracks from British psychedelia’s key year, ‘Too Much Sun Will Burn’ covers all bases, incorporating the era’s big hitters (The Move, The Who, Small Faces, ISB, Pretty Things, The Zombies), huge singles (Traffic, Procol Harum, The Hollies, Eric Burdon & The Animals, The Troggs), cult 45s (Paper Blitz Tissue, Made In Sheffield, Caleb and many others) and such future legends as Bowie, Genesis, Alex Harvey and Elton John, with a track from his legendary aborted debut LP ‘Regimental Sgt. Zippo’.

Towering above virtually everything that Graham Nash has accomplished in his long and multi-faceted career, there stands the litany of songs that he has written and introduced to the soundtrack of the past half-century. Two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Nash burst on to the scene during the British Invasion with The Hollies before he formed the legendary supergroup Crosby, Stills and Nash in 1968 with David Crosby and Stephen Stills. As Nash prepares to launch a European tour in July, Rhino looks back at some of his best-known recordings from the past 50 years in a new anthology featuring more than a dozen unreleased demos and mixes.

The Overlanders were a highly underrated group whose history took them from the prime years of the British Invasion into the Summer of Love – their one U.K. hit – a chart-topping British single of the Lennon-McCartney song "Michelle" – usually gets them pegged as a cover band, while their origins as a folk group specializing in harmony vocals often gets them lumped in with Silkie, the Ivy League, and other vocal ensembles. And their being put into Castle Records' sunshine pop series Ripples also gives the group a slightly lighter-weight veneer than they deserve. Their actual sound was a beautifully wrought synthesis of folk-inspired vocals and Merseybeat-style harmonies, rhythms, and instrumentation – they were comparable, in some ways, to the Searchers, with whom (not coincidentally) they shared the same producer, Tony Hatch.

First-ever complete anthology of teenage American band who recorded an unreleased, heavily Beatles-influenced album at Abbey Road in 1969. Includes the full album, outtakes, demos, alternative versions, solo recordings and no less than eleven previously unissued tracks. After a locally-recorded demo attracted the interest of Capitol Records, The Aerovons – Beatles-obsessed teenagers from St. Louis, Missouri - persuaded the company to let them approach EMI with a view to recording at Abbey Road. Three separate visits to England followed, with an impressed EMI overseeing an Aerovons album, recorded March-June 1969 in between the group's trips to Carnaby Street and starstruck encounters with various Beatles and Hollies members.
