Their music incorporates elements of classical Indian music, Krautrock, Traditional Folk, and 70s Rock. Most importantly their music is about freedom of the mind and body and building a bridge between the supernatural and the present. Improvisation is a key element to their sound.
For 25 years Ministry of Sound have been the pioneers of dance music, championing new music through two decades dance music is deeply embedded in our heritage. However, there is one genre of dance music that we hold closer to our heart than all the others and that genre is HOUSE music. We have a special bond that has allowed us to be the creators of moments; to reignite memories and to live on through generations we dont play house music. We are house music and this is Ministry of House. The popularity of house music has been evident in recent years with the huge success of Anthems House and the House That Garage Built which have sold over 200K copies combined. Dr Phibes and the House of Wax Equations were a psychedelic rock band based in the north west of England in the early to mid 1990s. They were regulars in the UK Indie Chart. The level of success continued with appearances at the Glastonbury Festival in 1992. The band also recorded a Peel Session for the Radio One DJ John Peel in 1993.
By the late '80s/early '90s, house music had become a major focus in dance clubs, but was hardly a high priority of either major record companies or "urban contemporary" radio. Adeva, one of the few house/R&B divas to record for a major label, specializes in "deep house" – a style that stresses vocal personality and makes the singer the focal point instead of the producer. Essentially, "deep house" is late-'70s disco/soul updated, and this self-titled debut leaves no doubt that the big-voiced Adeva's aggressive, gospel-influenced belting is a throwback to the days of Gloria Gaynor, Grace Jones, Linda Clifford, and Loleatta Holloway. When Adeva tears into such exhilarating neo-disco fare as "Promises," "Love Is Special," and "In & Out of My Life," it's clear that "deep house" is, for all intents and purposes, soul music. This CD boasts two versions of her inspired remake of the Otis Redding/Aretha Franklin hit "Respect," one of which features British rapper Monie Love. Unfortunately, Adeva! enjoyed little exposure outside of dance circles, and black radio generally ignored her in favor of considerably less talented singers like Paula Abdul and Nia Peeples.
