Howard Jones Live In Japan

Containing all of Howard Jones' singles released in Japan from 1984 to 1992, this greatest hits contains all the UK singles in chronological order. The booklet features 5" x 5" replicas of all the Japanese single sleeves. The DVD features 20 music videos, 2 of which are available on DVD for the first time, plus 2 live performances. Pressed on the high-fidelity Blu-spec CD2 format and digitally remastered for 2023, it's completed with an obi strip and Japanese lyrics booklet.

Super deluxe edition include the three disc (two CDs + DVD) edition plus vinyl picture disc LP pressing, the white tape replica pre-contract demo cassette containing remastered versions of four original demo tracks, an extra bonus CD containing further previously unreleased studio, live and BBC session and remastered tracks.

Born in 1918 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Jones moved with his family to the Detroit area while still a child, and studied piano early, listening carefully to Art Tatum, Teddy Wilson, Earl Hines, and Fats Waller. He began playing in the midwest at age 13, and worked in territory bands. Jones met Lucky Thompson in one of these groups, and Thompson invited him to New York in 1944 to work with Hot Lips Page at the Onyx Club. Jones worked for a while with John Kirby, Howard McGhee, Coleman Hawkins, Andy Kirk, and Billy Eckstine, then began touring in 1947. He worked with Jazz at the Philharmonic, then accompanied Ella Fitzgerald from 1948 to 1953.
