Howling

Howling’s album Sacred Ground stands for many things at once: collaboration, improvisation, simplicity, unexpected happenstance. The original track ‘Howling’ exploded virally in early 2012 (via Dixon’s Boiler Room set), though hardly past demo stage at the time, and proceeded to climb charts and win awards throughout electronic music. The track’s two humble collaborators - singer/producer/folk-electronic artist Ry X and Âme producer/Innervisions leader Frank Wiedemann - never saw it coming. Nor did they expect that a few years later, despite being from two different sonic universes and living on two different sides of the world, their debut album would be pressed in Berlin. Sacred Ground will be released in May 2015 as a collaboration between Modeselektor’s archetypal Berlin label Monkeytown and Counter, an imprint of Ninja Tune.

Available for the first time on CD, Pino Donaggio’s immortal score to the THE HOWLING is finally here, digitally remastered from the original ¼ inch album mastertapes. Directed by Joe Dante (“Gremlins”, “Innerspace”) and co-written by John Sayles (“Lone Star”, “Passion Fish”) this film remains a touchstone of contemporary horror, mixing classic scares with a still-relevant satiric look at media-obsessed culture. Mr. Donaggio (“Dressed to Kill”, “Body Double”, “Carrie”) anchors all the film’s suspense, chills and eroticism with his legendary orchestral score. We are Crocodile. We are a band from Austin TX. Our music is not easily categorized. Imagine mixing Gentle Giant with Steely Dan. Rush with ELO. Yes with The Smiths? Weird huh? But, it's working for us. We are currently recording our second album, Howling Mad Black Music Under Hot Stars, coming out October 1st. It is a continuance of the adventurous music found on our first album, His Name Is Stan And He's A Bad motherf**ker, but with a more accessible (less angular more emotional) style.
