Ibiza 2000 2010 (2010)

The premier purveyors of Ibiza comedown have selected two dozen tracks of laid-back, cozily experimental music to help celebrate their 20th anniversary, and while it at times feels ungainly, it never seems too scripted. The first disc has Amalagation of Soundz creating a rustic drum'n'bass mantra ("Enchant Me"), Moodrama mixing tribal beats with flitters of jazz (the appropriately titled "Jazz Tip"), and even Deep & Wide constructing a gorgeously subtle native twinkle along the lines of Dario G's "Voices." The other disc tends to go for the more celestial (Jean Michel Jarre, Jon & Vangelis) or the post-sunset reawakening (Foundland, Christian Alvad), but begins to sag with the drugged-out self-importance of a born-again hippy. Luckily, with so many tracks on offer, it's easy to sift out the treasures. This is a fine, calming collection of indigenous, open-door attitude.

Affected by a distinctive style, they’ve been shaping a sound that has inspired a whole generation. Ibiza stands for the ocean, beaches, world-class DJs and - of course - the legendary Cafee del Mar. The latter is well known for the breathtaking sunset down by the bay of Cala des Moro. Josee Padilla, resident DJ at Cafe del Mar and the man behind the legendary compilation-series, is now working on "Ibiza Sundowner presented by Jose Padilla", in where he presents the very best of chill-out music on two CDs. Not only featuring artists such as Silent Poets with their "(There's Always) Meaning In The Tone" and Peter Broderick with his "Solace In Gala", but also with the exclusive track "Ocean Drum" from Jose Padillas' latest album.

The Café del Mar is perhaps most known around the world for its chill-out music compilations. The songs are described as balearic ambient, easy listening music. The collections of the music played at the café were first sold on cassette at the end of the 1980s. In 1994, the first official “Café del Mar” CD was released, which included works by world-renowned artists. Following the great success of the first release, a total of 18 volumes of the main compilation series have been published.

The seaside club Café del Mar in Ibiza has become one of the world capitals for electronic chill-out music, and after lending their name to a popular series of CD compilations, this special three-disc set pays homage to the bar on the occasion of its first quarter-century in business. Café del Mar 25th Anniversary 1980-2005 features 45 tracks whose insistent but laid-back beats are potent and relaxing at the same time. Artists include Lovers Lane, Zuell, Rue de Soleil, Tom Oliver, Lemongrass, DJ Three, Koru, the Light of Aidan, Joke Society, and many more.

Eriq Johnson, a producer, a DJ, a label owner, began making music in 1995. His first musical compositions written for theatre plays gained popularity and recognition at the music festivals in Avignon and Berlin. For a long time he had occupied himself with writing music for television and radio advertisements. Since 2000 he has been working increasingly as a DJ and performed in almost all countries of the European continent, including Russia and Malta. Eric Johnson shows different facets of his talent being very succesful in various music genres such as electro, house, techno and lounge.
