Ingrid Honkala

For trumpeter Ingrid Jensen and saxophonist/clarinettist Steve Treseler, paying tribute to the late Kenny Wheeler was a calling. The Canadian-born, British-based composer/trumpeter has almost incalculably influenced generations of musicians, working alongside a who’s who of artists including Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Bill Frisell, John Taylor and Norma Winstone – and a famously unassuming persona belied his unequivocal prominence from the mid-1970s onwards as a free-spirited jazz pioneer.

Ingrid Haebler (20 June 1929[1]– 14 May 2023) was an Austrian classical pianist.

Ingrid Lucia grew up in a traveling family band, gypsy style. She lived in buses, boats and tents for the first eighteen years of her life. She started out as a dancer, by the age of 8 she was singing in the band. Her early years she was traveling with a Mexican Circus, then off to the big time. The Flying Neutrinos were born. Traveling and performing in Nyc, New Orleans and San Francisco. In her teens she lived in New Orleans in the winter months and worked on perfecting her craft.

The septet’s music weaves together Ingrid Laubrock‘s compositions with improvisation and live processing, often in multiple simultaneous layers.The four compositions in the form an imaginative and evocative piece that straddles the boundaries of improvisation, new music and avant-jazz.

Argentian-born Ingrid Fliter is best known for her incisive interpretations of the piano works of Chopin and Beethoven. Little known until 2006, she has emerged as one of the more prominent pianists on the international scene, with a major recording contract, a half-dozen or so recordings since that year, and a busy schedule of concerts and recitals at major venues across the globe. Fliter has been especially busy in the US making appearances with the major orchestras of Cleveland, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and others.

Ingrid Fliter is set to thrill her fans with a new recording of piano concertos; eagerly awaited since her acclaimed recording of Chopin 1 & 2, which saw Fliter nominated for a Gramophone Award. Fliter performs repertoire that is very close to her heart: concertos by two nineteenth century heavyweights, Schumann and Mendelssohn. With both composers giving equal focus to soloist and orchestra, the musicality of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s award-winning musicians shines through as they partner Fliter perfectly. This also marks the recording debut of Antonio Méndez, who is fast becoming one of the most exciting conductors of his generation following engagements with a host of international orchestras.
