Alabama-based quartet Iron Horse bring their traditional instrumentation and harmonious vocals to bear while tackling Kurt Cobain’s wildly influential fusion of melody and discordance. Pickin’ On Pearl Jam is a collection of some of the biggest and best-loved songs from the Seattle legends reinterpreted through the framework of classic Bluegrass instrumentation and vocal stylings. Series stalwarts Iron Horse are an Alabama-based quartet who’ve rearranged and performed these new versions of alt-rock classics using earnest sensibilities and traditional technique. CMH Records puts together another tribute to a particular artist so fans can hear their songs in bluegrass style. The studio musicians who play on many of CMH's albums call themseleves Iron Horse for this title, a tribute to The Shins called The Bluegrass Tribute To The Shins.

Born in Akron, Ohio, US, Coe lived a troubled youth, spending much of his time in and out of various youth correctional facilities. Having befriended each other in prison, it is thought that Coe was inspired to pursue a career in music by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, with the pair thought to have written songs together whilst behind bars. Upon release from a prison term, Coe took heed of Hawkins’ advice and travelled to Nashville to begin a career in music, where he caught the attention of Plantation Records, releasing his debut album “Penitentiary Blues” in 1970.
