Thurman Barker rediscovered – and set up beautifully in a hip organ trio too! Barker plays drums and a range of percussion – sometimes quite fiercely, and almost with a funky sensibility that we don't remember at all from the past – a really welcome mix for the Hammond B3 work of Lonnie Gasparini! The third member of the trio is saxophonist Sam Morrison – who plays tenor, soprano, and flute – and the record's a killer assemblage of short tracks that have plenty of action – soul jazz swing sometimes, more frenetic energy at others.
