Vintage soul and funk and contemporary grooves on Lack Of Afro’s 4th album ‘Music For Adverts’. As usual there’s an eclectic blend of soul, funk and jazzy grooves featuring a mix of lyricists and vocalists. Highlights are the rich, summery soul mid tempo of ‘The Gypsy’ and ‘Missing Me’ focusing on strong songwriting. ‘Make It Right’ is another strong soulful dancer with the right ingredients to give it immediate appeal. The more groove oriented tracks show that love of clattering brass and swirling organ lines, whilst ‘Coco’ is a really nice jazz moment. ‘Recipe For Love’ again features to voice of Jack Tyson-Charles and touches on contemporary northern soul – could be a big one!
