Nonesuch Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1986 cult classic True Stories directed by David Byrne and starring Byrne himself, John Goodman, Swoosie Kurtz and Spalding Gray. The movie’s complete soundtrack featuring both the songs by Talking Heads and the movie’s score composed by Byrne, as well as tracks by Terry Allen & The Panhandle Mystery Band, Carl Finch, Esteban “Steve” Jordan and Banda Eclipse will receive its first CD and digital release on November 23, 2018.

Irish composer Brian Byrne has been active in both his home country and the U.S., in the latter specifically in Los Angeles, both in pop music and in the film industry. His Tales from the Walled City the Walled City is Derry, Ireland make up an eight-part suite of short pieces that heavily reflect the latter influence.

After making his introduction as a sensitive, acoustic-styled songwriter on 2001's Room for Squares, John Mayer steadily widened his approach over the subsequent years, encompassing everything from blues-rock to adult contemporary in the process. Arriving during the tail end of teen pop's heyday, he crafted pop music for a more discerning audience, spiking his songcraft with jazz chords and literate turns of phrase.
