Country Joe & the Fish est connu pour la chanson « F.U.C.K. », un hymne anti-guerre du Vietnam qu'il interprète au festival de Woodstock en août 1969. Le groupe de « Country » Joe McDonald et Barry « The Fish » Melton a également produit cinq albums dont deux balises du psychédélisme, Electric Music for the Mind & Body et I Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die Rag, sortis en 1967. Il se sépare en 1971 et renaît occasionnellement en public.

McDonald, the nominal leader of the 1960s politico-psychedelic band the Fish, has' always fancied himself a folk and blues connoisseur. Recording solo in the 1990s, he sings attractively and switches between well-played guitar and harmonica on original songs ideal for present-day coffeehouse listening. If only his lyrics and music were more inventive.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2002, Stephen Barton has written music for more than three dozen major motion picture, videogame and television projects. These have included scoring the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which has sold over 14 million copies to date, and contributing music to Shrek 2 (including co-writing a song on the platinum selling soundtrack) and the first two Chronicles of Narnia movies.
