Joel Holmes began teaching himself tunes by ear at age 10. He grew up playing with local bands and primarily in church. His family soon moved from Virginia to Baltimore so that he could attend the Baltimore School for the Performing Arts. Later, Joel Holmes became the Director of Jazz at his alma mater. He attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music at John Hopkins University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Performance.

Joel Lyssarides is a multi-awarded Swedish jazz-musician. Starting to take piano lessons at the age of 4, Joel claims that one of his early inspirations to jazz was from hearing Charlie Parkers "Blue Bird." Only 25 years old, Joel already has a 10 year career behind him, and has toured and collaborated with artists such as Anne Sofie Von Otter, Dirty Loops, Benny Andersson, Nils Landgren and Silvana Imam. Over the years Joel has received a number of prominent awards. At the age of 21 he won the Jan Wallander award, which gave him a Steinway grand piano and access to a studio in central Stockholm.

Glass Houses is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Billy Joel. It features Joel's first song to peak at #1 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart, "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me." The album itself topped the Pop Albums chart for six weeks and was ranked number 4 on Billboard's 1980 year-end album chart. The album is the 41st best selling album of the 1980s, with sales of 7.1 million copies in the US alone. In 1981, Joel won a Grammy Award for "Best Male Rock Vocal Performance" for his work on Glass Houses.
