During Coltrane’s Atlantic years, he made important recordings such as "Giant Steps" and "My Favorite Things", recorded albums with Milt Jackson, Don Cherry, and Eric Dolphy and made his debut on the soprano saxophone. The Penguin Guide to Jazz assigned its 'Crown' award to the box set, in addition to giving it a four-star rating (of a possible four).

John Oates’ new album is called ‘Reunion.’ But don’t think Hall & Oates are getting back together. NEW YORK (AP) — For many music fans, John Oates is most recognizable as one-half of the Grammy-nominated Hall & Oates, the multiplatinum soul-pop duo behind hits like “Rich Girl” and “Maneater” now riven by litigation. But he’s also had a full career as a soloist.
His sixth solo album, “Reunion,” is out May 17. Just don’t consider the title a thinly veiled attempt at getting the band back together — what he recognizes as “a true irony.” In November, Hall sued Oates, arguing that his plan to sell off his share of a joint venture would violate the terms of a business agreement the duo had forged. He accused Oates of committing the “ultimate partnership betrayal” by planning to sell his share without the other’s permission. A few days later, a judge sided with Hall in his request to keep Oates temporarily blocked from selling his potentially lucrative share. The litigation is ongoing.

Tenor saxophonist John Coltrane was one of the most innovative, influential and respected figures in jazz history. In 1957, Coltrane created a masterpiece with the release of "Blue Train". The album has been widely regarded by both fans and critics as one of the greatest jazz records of all time. It was his second album as a band leader and found him accompanied by greats including Lee Morgan, Curtis Fuller, Kenny Drew, Paul Chambers and “Philly” Joe Jones. The album is a scintillating display of Coltrane’s innate leadership abilities. The stunning horn arrangements add a unique distinction symbolic of Coltrane and his band. A showcase of his versatility, Coltrane soars through tunes including “I’m Old Fashioned” and “Lazy Bird”.

"Love Devotion Surrender" is an album released in 1973 by guitarists Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin, with the backing of their respective bands, Santana and The Mahavishnu Orchestra. The album was inspired by the teachings of Sri Chinmoy and intended as a tribute to John Coltrane. It contains two Coltrane compositions, two McLaughlin songs, and a traditional gospel song arranged by Santana and McLaughlin. It was certified Gold in 1973.
