Few young singer/songwriters have quite so quickly won the sort of acclaim that Idaho-born Josh Ritter gained with his first self-released album, which won rave reviews, earned him slots opening for Bob Dylan, and made him a minor celebrity in Ireland, where he's already headlined several tours. Ritter's second disc (and first nationally released album), Golden Age of Radio, makes it clear that his sudden success is well deserved, and based on genuine talent. Ritter's moody, evocative songs seem to reside in a middle ground between Richard Buckner and Ryan Adams, but without suggesting he's lifted anything from either of those performers.
The conductor Marcelo Nadruz produced the CD Reiki with soft, selected songs that make the ideal soundtrack for therapy sessions. A special characteristic of this work is a soft Tibetan bell that rings every 3 minutes to remind the therapist of the right time to change the position of his hands, all in accordance with the music composition, chorus and instrumental conducting. Besides being a chorus conductor, Nadruz teaches musical theory and harmony in his hometown Porto Alegre, in Brazil. He has a long experience in holistic therapy and musicotherapy, acquired through courses, workshops and activities in the area. The perception of the human being as a whole (body, mind and spirit) has gained some increasing importance in the western way of thinking.
For anyone in their mid-teens in the mid-5Os, and into music, it had to be rock'n'roll - American rock'n roll. There was no British equivalent to the sound. In the UK, it was Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, The Platters, Alan Freed, Radio Luxembourg, Voice Of America. If the right people get to know about this and hear the quality, this will sell and sell.
It was always going to be a dangerous mission. Trevor Churchill’s brainchild, THE GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICAN POP, had been in development for some time and the prototype was about to be launched into the fray with a bundle of seemingly undifferentiated repertoire. The potential embarrassment factor was high with risk of heavy flak on the way and snipers on the ground in the landing zone. Trevor was calling for volunteers. There was a lot of nervous shuffling among the ranks. Some of the lads took to studying their toecaps, while others took an inordinate interest in the state of their cuticles, or tried to look inconspicuous by melting into the background.
Cafeine will appeal to fans of European Prog with influences from French 70's Symphonic Prog.
Recorded in 2000, their second album very representative of the spirit of revival in the French Progressive scene. Here, one rediscovers long instrumental passages, a wealth of classical orchestrations, along with influences ranging from rock to folk, and fusion to baroque. As a whole, it is enveloped in an ensemble of sublime resonance, thanks to the production being one of rare power and quality among the masses. The "Nouveaux Mondes" (Meaning "New Worlds") that this talented French group explores today are those to conquer. The compositions (all illustrated in a luxurious libretto) relate to various aspects: air to matter, history or love, and even Man conquering space…
