Juan Cid Velasco

D’origine barcelonaise, le saxophoniste et clarinettiste Esaie Cid débute sa carrière au sein du Barcelona Jazz Orchestra, big-band dirigé par Oriol Bordas, avec lequel il enregistre et tourne avec Jesse Davis ainsi que Frank Wess. Arrivé en France en 2002, il fonde le groupe Jazzpel, quintet jazz aux influences gospel avec trois albums à son actif. Installé depuis 2005 à Paris, Esaie Cid investit la scène du Jazz français en multipliant ses collaborations en tant que sideman avec de nombreux musiciens (Mourad Benhammou, Fabien Mary, Michel Pastre, François Laudet, Gilles Rea, Jean Pierre Derouard, Hugo Lippi, …), et en créant son propre quartet et quintet (enregistrés chez Fresh Sound Records).

The rich variety of colors and rhythms in South American culture and music is a key feature of this program, which focuses primarily on music by composers from the Ecuadorian Andes.
