While the young Tolonen had already made a name for himself in Tasavallan Presidentti, the nineteen-year old really made it big with his 1971 solo debut Tolonen! Named album of the year in Finland at the time, the instrumental prog rock album made it to the local top ten and was licensed for release in several countries.
On Tolonen! he showcases his skills as musician rather than a lead guitarist, and he does so in a pretty unique way. Instead of using all of his studio time lying on top of some heavy blues based riffing - ornamenting the music with high soaring fiery guitar solos, which he also does on occasion, he decides to weave a series of intricate melodic string plays, creating a magical world that wouldn't be out of place in the sort of movie, where unicorns and phoenixes roam…
The Pop-Liisa and Jazz-Liisa broadcast session series presents previously unreleased and forgotten gems from the biggest names of Finnish prog and jazz of the 1970's. Never bootlegged and known up until now only to a few faithful servants (and largely thought to have been lost for ever), these sessions offer a hitherto unrivalled look into the state of Finnish jazz and progressive rock between the years 1972-1977. Imagine if the sessions recorded by John Peel had only recently been discovered, and you get an idea of the cultural weight of what is being brought into the light of day here…

Originally recorded as broadcasts by YLE (the national radio service Yleisradio, "the Finnish BBC"), the thirty-four Liisankatu sessions are a genuine who’s who of Finnish prog and jazz. Interestingly, anyone with even basic knowledge of the era’s biggest bands will recognize familiar names at play within these obscure bands…

Studio Album of Finnish jazz-rock/progressive-rock legend Tasavallan Presidentti. Titled "Six Complete", the album includes nine songs written by Frank Robson and Jukka Tolonen. Seven of those are new compositions and two are new versions of old songs. "Last Night" is an updated vocal version of a song originally released on Jukka Tolonen?s first solo album; "Dance on the other hand" is a new interpretation of one of Tasavallan Presidentti "Lambert Land" -album songs. "Six Complete" is a first studio release since groups "Milky Way Moses" (1974).
Essential: A masterpiece of prog-rock music collection.
I liked this album very much! The voice of FRANK ROBSON is more pleasing to my ear than EERO RAITTINEN's, who replaced him on the forthcoming "Lamberland" album.
