The Blue Velvet soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti is a dark combination of classic composition and vintage/modern pop songs, which mirrors the film's un-stated timeless setting envisioned by David Lynch and unsettling neo-noir atmosphere. Thus, the film has become noted for its diverse musical selections. Seen as a prominent stylistic feature in the film is the unconventional use of vintage pop songs, such as Bobby Vinton’s "Blue Velvet" and Roy Orbison’s "In Dreams", juxtaposed with an orchestral score.

Likely the only time Grant Lee Buffalo's Grant Lee Phillips and Cirque du Soleil will appear in the same commercial DJ mix, the ninth volume of the Buddha-Bar series is mixed by Ravin, who presents a typically diverse set of tracks that fits into the establishment’s take (relaxed, spiritual) on dance music.

During the latter half of the 1980s, a wave of alternative artists began to explore a gentler, more ethereal sound, bringing a dream-like aesthetic to the rock and pop idiom. Taking its lead from the UK (and the 4AD label in particular), this refined approach soon spread, particularly to the United States, slowly picking up the moniker “dream pop” – a catch-all term rather than a genre within itself.
Curated by the same team as our successful ‘Still In A Dream’ 2016 shoegaze set, ‘Cherry Stars Collide’ explores that sound as it emerged in the mid-80s and proceeded to define a less grounded, more thoughtful approach to musical expression than was offered elsewhere. Fusing and blending with other genres along the way. – from the guitar driven shoegaze movement and proto-Britpop to the post ‘C-86’ generation and the nascent leftfield clubbing scene – that sound both drew in artists already operating elsewhere and inspired new artists to embark their own journey.

Until the End of the World is a definite contender for best motion picture soundtrack of the 1990s. With a lineup that includes Talking Heads, Lou Reed, R.E.M., Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Depeche Mode, U2, and others all providing original songs or new covers, it's an absolute joy. Interspersed with Graeme Revell's haunting ambient score, virtually every pop/rock track works perfectly as part of a cohesive whole. "Sax and Violins," recorded during the dying days of Talking Heads, might be the band's most confident moment, as a jazzy background shuffle and keyboards provide compelling momentum underneath David Byrne's sarcastic vocals. Crime & the City Solution could have made an entire career out of the emotional yet existential "The Adversary." R.E.M. and Depeche Mode both contribute touching ballads. "Fretless" is one of the most beautiful tracks to be found in R.E.M.'s discography, documenting a wounded relationship with subtle grace. "Death's Door" is one of those sad numbers Depeche Mode fans have grown to love, with Martin Gore handling the vocals.

Twin Peaks: Music from the Limited Event Series is a soundtrack album to the Twin Peaks revival series. It was released on September 8, 2017, by Rhino Entertainment. Throughout the series, many well-known recording artists would perform studio renditions of their songs at the fictional Bang Bang Bar tavern (commonly referred to as "the Roadhouse"). Several of the bands were handpicked by director David Lynch himself, including Nine Inch Nails, Sharon Van Etten, and Eddie Vedder. The album contains the majority of the tracks featured in those performances, as well as several songs played diegetically throughout the season.
