Norway’s oldest and most influential independent label, KKV (Kirkelig Kulturverksted) celebrates in 2014 its 40 years’ anniversary by releasing a compilation of highlights from its more than 5000 tracks of original recorded songs and compositions. This new “physical playlist” is called “40 years’ Credibility” and consists of 4 CD’s with 12 tracks from each decade.
Kronos is very excited to announce that the Norwegian record label Kirkelig Kulturverksted (KKV), in association with New York-based Valley Entertainment, will release Placeless on March 1, 2019. ” Placeless is the first collaboration between Kronos and Iranian singers Mahsa and Marjan Vahdat. Recorded in Oslo’s Kulturkirken Jakob in November 2018, the album features 14 songs composed by Mahsa Vahdat to classical poems by Hafez and Rumi and the works of contemporary Iranian poets Forough Farrokhzad, Mohammad Ibrahim Jafari and Vahdat’s husband Atabak Elyasi. Composers Sahba Aminikia, Aftab Darvishi, Jacob Garchik and Elyasi arranged the songs for string quartet.
Mighty Sam McClain never experienced the release of this, his final album, 'Time and Change', which contains his last 11 produced tracks. The legendary blues and soul performer passed away in New Hampshire June 15, 2015 by the age of 72. The songs on this album were all written and produced by Sam himself (except for one song, written by Sam's friend and mentor Melvin Underwood) in cooperation with the multi-instrumentalist Pat Herlehy, his musical partner through many years. This isn't one of those somber 'memorial' albums. Sam would not have wanted that. He wanted to be remembered with the same kind of spirit and energy he put into his music, on countless stages and recording sessions around the world.
