Mr Takács now joins forces with veteran violinist Daniel Stepner for Beethoven’s final two Violin Sonatas. I’m not sure whether this is the start of a new cycle or a one off. What I am certain of, however, is that Takács is one of the finest Beethoven interpreters around. He seems to have made the composer something of a speciality. Violinist Daniel Stepner, who studied with Steven Staryk in Chicago and Nadia Boulanger in France, is the Artistic Director of the Aston Magna Festival and Foundation. He is also Professor Emeritus at Brandeis University, where he was first violinist of the Lydian String Quartet from 1987-2016.

Green Day have announced that they will be re-releasing their 1995 album Insomniac for its 25th anniversary. The re-release includes a double album being a remastered of the original master tapes. Also featuring live tracks from their 1996 show in Prague.

The long-awaited 32-disc boxed set of Robert Fripp in the studio and in concert 1977 - 1983 will be released on 27th May 2022. The set will feature many previously unreleased tracks, outtakes and rarities as well as a number of tracks appearing on CD for the first time. The largest in the series, Exposures is the ninth boxset release collecting King Crimson / Robert Fripp material from 1969 to 2008.

Leonard Bernstein's Concert for Peace, a protest at the Vietnam War, took place in Washington Cathedral during January 1973 and featured a spellbinding performance of Joseph Haydn's Mass in Time of War. Here it's coupled with Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic's reading of Haydn's Symphony No. 96, "Miracle". Both were remastered from the original analogue tapes (stereo and quadraphonic).

Both fall on fixed dates, so that their position in relation to the numbered Sundays after Trinity varies from year to year. Reformation Day celebrates Martin Luther’s historic nailing of his 95 Theses to the door of the church of Wittenberg Castle, and it is observed on the anniversary of the event, 31 October (except in a few places which chose to do so on the Sunday following that date).
