earMUSIC will release DEEP PURPLE's "Live In Rome 2013" on December 6. This album takes the audience back to the "Now What?!" tour of 2013 when Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Steve Morse and Don Airey celebrated their first album after the passing of former bandmate and good friend Jon Lord. "Live In Rome 2013" captures an energetic and emotional performance by the masters of classic rock, featuring musical highlights of their now-five-decades-spanning career. Once more, DEEP PURPLE prove their extraordinary qualities not only in the studio but also on stage.
25 years on from the release of Officium, the groundbreaking alliance of Jan Garbarek and The Hilliard Ensemble, comes Remember me, my dear, recorded during the final tour the group made in October 2014. The program is emblematic of the range of repertoire the Norwegian saxophonist and British vocal quartet explored together– from Pérotin, Hildegard von Bingen, Guillaume le Rouge, Antoine Brumel to Komitas , Arvo Pärt and more. It could be said that the Hilliard/Garbarek combination, in concert, transcended its source materials, with early music, contemporary composition and improvisation interfused in the responsive acoustics of sacred spaces. And this final album reminds us that the unique Garbarek/Hilliard combination, and its unprecedented exploration of sound, was consistently breathtaking.
Six weeks after the B-52s released their brilliant first album in the hot new wave summer of 1979, they found themselves on-stage in Boston opening for Talking Heads. Some brilliant person decided it would be a good night to record the band; some less brilliant person buried the tape in the Warner Bros. vault for decades. The performance includes songs from both the first album and Wild Planet, and features the B-52s ripping heartily through the songs like they were dedicated to giving the crowd the night of their lives. Decades later the effect is still the same.
Concert in Tokyo with Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Wynton Marsalis, Ron Carter & Tony Williams. 1 h 49 mins.
earMUSIC and Deep Purple have worked on a Limited Edition Series, made of very rare live recordings from the band's archive. 20,000 numbered CDs and 2,000 numbered Red LPs will be available worldwide for each release, until sold out. The series will concentrate on the last three decades of concerts around the world, starting with an explosive show in Newcastle, Australia recorded in 2001. Some of the shows have been previously available as very rare fan club editions, others will be released for the very first time. All recordings are being remastered for the best audio quality possible. About the first chapter of the series Roger Glover commented: “After touring Australia in the early 70s, we returned in 1999 with Steve Morse on guitar. Australia had given us a great welcome back and for this night in 2001, we felt like doing something different, so we added singers and a horn section. A rare night and a special gig.”
