Kat Obie

Second Round's On Me is the 2006 album by Obie Trice. True to its name, the title represents his second album. This was released through Eminem's Shady label via Interscope.

By the sixties, big bands were no longer as popular as they had once been. That was no surprise as music had changed beyond recognition. Bands like The Beatles, and the British Invasion groups in 1964 were game-changers for the big band leaders. They were in a similar boat to the blues men, and found themselves marginalised, and no longer part of mainstream music. However, there were still venues where the big bands were welcomed with open arms.

Stax Country offers a diverse crew of artists, many of whom led colorful lives, but never found great success in the music industry. O.B. McClinton was perhaps the most successful of the bunch. McClinton became known to Stax as a songwriter, penning R&B tracks for Otis Redding, the Staple Singers and James Carr, and signed his own deal to Stax as a country act in 1971. McClinton, who covers Jim Weatherly’s “Finer Things in Life” on this compilation, went on to record for several major country labels, though never found wide success in the genre. 1973's Obie From Senatobie was his sophomore album, and featured hit single "Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You".

Kat is unashamedly bold & confident in her abilities as a vocalist and songwriter, effortlessly merging Soul, and classic R&B which transpired throughout the mature and well rounded 10 tracks from her debut opus released in 2021.
