Martina DaSilva and Dan “Chimy” Chmielinski have been making music together since mid-2014. A few years later, they began recording “ChimyTina” videos; a series of short, 2-4 minute duo arrangements for voice and bass. After an increasing demand for more music, the duo began working on their debut recording project: A Very ChimyTina Christmas. The record is a reflection of Dan and Martina’s favorite holiday classics as well as their own personal take on the Christmas spirit with the original, “Diamonds and Pearls.” They welcome some of their closest friends and mentors as guests, including saxophonist Lucas Pino, vibraphonist Joel Ross, bassist Ben Wolfe and guitarist Gabe Schnider. The album was recorded over the course of two days in New York City, where they both reside, and features ChimyTina’s noteworthy tight-knit and musically complex arranging style. They hope that the rich, warm blend of their timbres brings all listeners a warm, holiday glow.
