Spanish rock group Sidonie, comprised of Marc Ros (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jesus Senra (vocals, bass, sitar), and Axel Pi (drums, percussion), formed in 1997. The group originally assembled to play the hits of their favorite groups, including the Doors, the Velvet Underground, and the Rolling Stones. As the bandmembers put their own personal touch on each song they played, they soon developed a desire to write and record their own material. Demonstrating a variety of influences, Sidonie released their debut CD, Dragonfly. The five-track disc – described as a mixture of psychedelia, Hindu music, surrealism, and Spanish rock rolled into one – was released by the independent Bip Bip Records. The record was well enough received that the band soon had enough clout to record a full-length album.

En este trabajo están volcadas mis raíces y mis anhelos: cuando pienso en Latinoamérica, pienso siempre en un tronco común que nos une, pienso en todos esos sonidos que nos representan y que nos resultan familiares pero que poco a poco, se van diluyendo o dispersando por la irrupción de las modas o las corrientes musicales. Un trabajo en el que me abrazo a ritmos y estilos que eran desconocidos para mí, de una forma “teórica” pero míos emocionalmente.

Bachata Rosa (English: Rose Bachata) is the fifth studioalbum by Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra and hisgroup 4.40. It was released on December 11, 1990, by KarenRecords. Written and produced by Guerra, the record sold overfive million copies worldwide. It brought bachata music into themainstream in the Dominican Republic and gave the genre aninternational audience.
