Cinque amici sposati, in gran segreto dalle loro mogli, condividono un piccolo appartamento che usano come alcova per gli incontri con le loro amanti o per gestire i loro affari in tranquillità. Quando nell'appartamento viene ritrovato il cadavere di una sconosciuta, i cinque si ritrovano sotto l'occhio del ciclone: con la polizia che sospetta che il killer sia uno di loro, tutti i legami di amicizia e di lealtà vengono messi a dura prova e i loro matrimoni cominciano a sbriciolarsi prima che salti fuori il nome del vero responsabile del delitto.

Among the first crop of Creation Records bands in the mid-1980s, THE LOFT seemed the most likely to break through. Following the success of The Smiths, guitar-based independent pop was in vogue, Alan McGee’s Creation label was turning heads – its bands blending 60s psychedelia, the melodic end of punk and a new sound which would soon be immortalised on NME’s C86 cassette. And in this London quartet, Creation had their answer to bands like Television, The Only Ones or early Modern Lovers, offering taut, off-kilter songs with an irresistibly deadpan cool.

Art, obsession and anxiety permeate a dilapidated Manhattan loft building in Mid-century: The first movie to use photographer W. Eugene Smith's massive, fly-on-the-wall archive of photos and audio tapes documenting the likes of jazz greats Thelonious Monk, Zoot Sims, Jimmy Giuffre, Hall Overton and others at work and play in the Sixth Avenue wreck that was Smith's home and studio from 1957 through the '60s.
