UK collection. Ace's highly regarded and extremely popular Songwriter Series continues apace, with several exciting projects in place for release in the second half of 2022 and beyond. This month we welcome Jimmy Webb onto our expanding list with "Clowns Exit Laughing", a deep dip into this prolific tunesmith's extensive catalogue of the past six decades. After a period of establishing his credentials as a writer with Motown's West Coast office, Jimmy really came into his own in the mid-60s with classic songs like 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix', 'Wichita Lineman' and 'Up, Up And Away'. Everyone wanted to record a Jimmy Webb copyright, and a great many people did as this CD demonstrates. Although Jimmy has never stopped writing, "Clowns Exit Laughing" naturally concentrates on a time when a new Jimmy Webb classic seemed to appear every other week. As is always Ace's policy with the Songwriter Series, each featured artist performs only one song but we are sure that inclusions by the likes of Tony Joe White, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield and other major names will disappoint nobody. Also included for collectors are several rare, seldom-heard original versions of songs primarily associated with other artists, such as Don Ho's original of 'Galveston' and James Darren's first recording of 'Didn't We'.

"Laughing Down Crying" is the 5th solo album by American recording artist Daryl Hall. It was released on September 27, 2011, on Verve Records. Co-producer and bandmate T-Bone Wolk died during early recording sessions for the disc; Hall dedicated the record to him. Hall debuted the album on a two-part episode of his series Live from Daryl's House.

Often referred to as the UK’s answer to The Band or The Eagles, Meal Ticket were a formidable force on the booming Pub Rock circuit of the mid 70’s. This 3 CD box set features each of their albums – “Code Of The Road”, “Three Times A Day” and “Take Away” – two of which had not previously been issued on CD. Two rare live B-sides have been added which, along with singles such as ‘Simple’, ‘Yesterday’s Music’, ‘The Shape I’m In’ and ‘Blame’, give a complete round-up of all of the band’s released material for EMI International and Logo Records. Michael Heatley, editor of “History Of Rock” and long-time champion of Meal Ticket, has provided insightful sleeve-notes in conjunction with the band. As well as the three albums in replica card wallets, the box also contains a 20 page booklet. Mastered from the original tape source by James Bragg.
