If you lived outside America during the 1950s, when rock & roll exploded across the world, the opportunities to see your idols in the flesh were few and far between. Even at home, in North America, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis could only be in one place at a time when performing live. So the obvious marriage was made, between rock & roll and the movies. And back then, all the songs you hear spread over this comprehensive 3CD collection could be heard – and seen! – at the cinema.

From Stockholm's southern edge, the band TT Grace comes from a bunch of guys who, despite their ages, have accumulated enormous amounts of experience. They are young, hungry and above all hugely professional and deliver a sprawling and happy doo-wop rockabilly. Music that could be downloaded from movies like Grease, or well … why not say: like The Boppers sounded at the beginning of his career. A band they learned on many occasions. They danced for 12 years all over the country from Trelleborg and up to Luleå and not forgetting parts of the United States where they participated in, among other things, two television shows: George Klein's television show in Memphis and Steve Bower's television show in Jackson , Tennessee. Liveshower at "Elvis Week" in Memphis with no less than "Sun Records" legendaries: Rayburn Anthony & Carl Mann as guest artists are also something the guys have done with and in addition they have previously worked with the producer Larry Rogers, who has, among other things, produced Ricky Nelson and Beatles ex-drummer Ringo Starr.

Etta James was an American singer who performed in various genres, including blues, R&B, soul, rock and roll, jazz and gospel. James's powerful, deep, earthy voice bridged the gap between rhythm and blues and rock and roll. She won six Grammy Awards and 17 Blues Music Awards. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Rolling Stone magazine ranked James number 22 on its list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time; she was also ranked number 62 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Let's Roll is a 2003 blues album by Etta James. It won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2003, and also won the Soul/Blues Album of the Year from the Blues Foundation in 2004.

Even the seasoned Orbison fan will find themselves needing to get this set. I know that there has always been among the fans a huge dissapointment with re-releases, we'd get the same set of songs on ten different cds with different package titles. Absolutely not the case here. You can tell instantly that love and so much care was put into this package from day one. Question is "How did they decide on what to put on this set?" ….considering Roys career spanned over 50 years and hundreds of songs. You will find right away from "Ooby Dooby" to the final track on Disc 4 "We'll Take The Night" they covered every corner of his career when he was huge on Monumental Records through MGM, when he put out songs in the late 60s and 70s that failed to chart in America, yet was still big with fans all over the world.

With Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and even some R&B acts like Little Richard and Fats Domino gaining popularity it was obvious that Britain could no longer rely on ageing pop singers to service the rock and roll audience and the search for home grown talent began. This excellent 2CD set from Jasmine turns the spotlight onto some of the lesser known rock and roll acts that surfaced on our shores. Although Tommy Steele can't quite be labelled as unsung, he was the first teenage star to perform rock and roll and scored the first home grown hit with the original song 'Rock With The Caveman'.

American rocker Rick Derringer was born on August 5, 1947 in Fort Recovery, Ohio. In 1965, his band The McCoys had the number one single in the US with "Hang On Sloopy." Derringer later played and recorded with Johnny and Edgar Winter's bands and Steely Dan, though he is probably best known for his 1974 solo hit "Rock 'N Roll Hoochie Koo."

A crucial figure in the transformation of swing and jump blues into R&B and rock & roll, the legendary pianist and singer Amos Milburn pounded out some of the most hellacious boogies of the postwar era. He specialized in good-natured upbeat romps about booze and its effects (both positive and negative) that proved massive hits during the immediate pre-rock era. Such great artists as Fats Domino, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Dr. John have all cited Amos as a seminal influence on their work. This essential release compiles 29 of the finest songs Amos Milburn issued for different labels like Aladdin, Ace, and King, between 1946 and 1961.
