An iconic Kent vinyl album expanded to CD format with bonus soul necessities.
Over the years we have been asked to issue CDs versions some of the most popular Kent LPs we put out in the 1980s. With the exception of “Slow’n’Moody, Black & Bluesy”, a few releases in our Hip Pocket series and some solo collections, we have held off until now. “On The Soul Side” is a good place to start, as it was our first compilation drawn from a catalogue other than Kent/Modern. A superb collection of mainly big budget 60s soul sides sourced from the Capitol, Liberty, Minit, Imperial and United Artists family of labels, only a quarter of the tracks on the LP have since appeared on Kent CDs. With an extra 10 like-minded soul songs added, it means that no more than 15.3846% (approx) are likely to be in even the most avid Kent fan’s collection.

This superbly remastered and presented 4 CD box set presents both classic and rare and collectible slide guitar blues from some of the best ever. From early legends like Tampa Red, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Charley Patton. Through to electric blues guitar icons like J.B. Hutto and Homesick James and finally the modern blues guys-Joe Louis Walker, Lucky Peterson and Louisiana Red.

As part of it's best-selling anthology series, SoulMusic Records is very proud to present "You Ought To Be Havin' Fun" a solid 2-CD set by the legendary Tower of Power, considered one of the premier funk 'n'soul jazz bands of the past four decades. As it's title implies, this 35-track collection focuses on two specific periods of the internationally-renowned group's career: Disc One consists of cuts from "Ain't Nothin' Stoppin' Us Now", "We Came To Play" and "Back On The Streets", the three albums released by Columbia Records between 1976-1979; while Disc Two is derived from four albums - "Monster On A Leash", "T. O. P. ", "Souled Out" and "Rhythm & Business", released by Epic Records between 1991-1997.

The second disc is the “Loonee Tunes” album which hit No.36 in the National Chart in 1980. This one contains the hit singles ‘Lorraine’ (No.21) and ‘Just A Feeling’ (No.13). 1981’s “Gosh It’s” album is what you’ll find on Disc 3. It reached No.18 in the UK charts helped by the inclusion of the hit singles ‘Can Can’ (No.3) and ‘Walking In The Sunshine’ (No.10). We’ve also added as a bonus the No.34 charting ‘Buona Sera’ single plus two tracks from the “Party Party” sound-track that are appearing on CD in the UK for the first time.

Jazz, soul and gospel singer, songwriter, and actor Gregory Porter was born in Los Angeles but grew up in Bakersfield, California, where his mother was a minister. As a child, he fell under the spell of his mother's Nat King Cole records, learning to imitate Cole, but his early aspirations involved sports. He was awarded a football scholarship to San Diego State University, but after an injury to his shoulder derailed his sports career, he began performing in local jazz clubs, where he met saxophonist, composer, and pianist Kamau Kenyatta.
