Almost immediately after Lil Peep’s 2017 death at age 21, his unreleased “16 Lines” video was shared on social media by producer and frequent collaborator Wiggy. The clip keeps a tight focus on Peep’s face as he takes hefty pulls from a blunt and sings lines like, “I wonder who you’ll f*ck when I die.” Sharing it was very likely a coping mechanism, Wiggy’s attempt to unite Peep fans in the wake of losing a person whose music articulated a very specific kind of helplessness in the face of depression—and who had articulated that helplessness regularly, blending his gift for emo melodies with hip-hop posturing and alt-rock song structure. “16 Lines” appears on Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2, Peep’s second proper album, along with a bevy of other songs previously available only via assorted leaks. Across the album, talk of death is eerily frequent and allusions to excessive drug use are ubiquitous. Listening to Peep speak of his own morality and escaping the pain of existence isn’t easy. But in Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2 producer Smokeasac, along with Peep’s family, has managed to put together a testament to the rapper’s refreshing originality and burgeoning greatness.

Fall Out Boy have announced their second greatest hits collection titled, Greatest Hits: Believers Never Die – Volume Two, set for release on 15 November via Island Records. Included on the new collection is a new single, ‘Dear Future Self (Hands Up)’ featuring Wyclef Jean. “I think we’ve always been big fans of Fugees and Wyclef,” frontman Pete Wentz said in a recent interview. “He’s got an incredible sense of melody that’s kind of out there. It’s like you can tell it’s a mix from all over kind of the globe, which is cool, and super inspired by seeing my kids and that they just listen to song, to song, to song, to song and it’s going from Queen to Lil Uzi to you know…” The summer-friendly single also features an accompanying visual that shows the band going ham on some soft serve ice cream. ‘Dear Future Self (Hands Up)’ kicks off with a surf rock intro before Wyclef drops in with his reggae-inflected verse.

Lil Green, one of the unsung heroines of 1940's Blues, presents 16 of her Chicago recordings mostly with the guitar accompaniment of Big Bill Broonzy. Also featured are her original versions of 'Romance in the Dark' covered and revived by scores of artists including Jeri Southern and Billie Holiday and 'Why Don't You Do Right?', turned into a major pop hit by Peggy Lee with Benny Goodman's Orchestra.

This is the third and final volume in the complete recordings of Lil Green in chronological order as reissued by the Classics Blues & Rhythm Series. By 1947 Lil Green was beginning to sound more than a little like Ida Cox, even when handling songs from Tin Pan Alley rather than straight up out of the tried and true traditional blues repertoire. Comparisons could also be drawn between Lil Green and Nellie Lutcher or Julia Lee. While her "crossover" performances are worthwhile, there's nothing quite like hearing this woman savor the flavor of Bessie Smith hits like "Aggravatin' Papa," "Outside of That," and "You've Been a Good Old Wagon (But You Done Broke Down)." Green's own "Lonely Woman" has a powerful undercurrent running through it – there is even a remote possibility that Ornette Coleman was inspired by this record when conceiving his own composition of the same title in 1959. Even if the link is purely coincidental, these melodies have something wonderful in common. Green's final recordings for the Victor label are strengthened by the presence of tenor saxophonists Budd Johnson, Lem Johnson, and David Young.
