For several years, the iconic Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris have been quietly recording a remarkable collection of duets whenever the Grammy winning artists could steal away from their own illustrious careers. The extraordinary result is All the Roadrunning. The songs from their Nashville sessions, all originals, while undeniably modern, have the appeal of classics, whether country, Celtic flavored or gently soulful. All the Roadrunning is Knopfler & Harris making music and, as the lyric for "This is Us" puts it, making history.

Beady Belle's third album, "Closer", was released in 2005. Beate says, "We've tried to make an album that's closer to the listener, for the most part taking away embellishments and emphasizing the essence of the music. The strings don't have the purpose of being lushly arranged harmonies, but serve to bring the musical theme into the foreground. We’ve tried to arrange the strings in the way they would in the orient – it really brings a more characteristic atmosphere to the music." International singles from this album was "Skin-deep" and "Closer".

Having toured and recorded with Piazzolla in the 1980s, Burton clearly had a strong appreciation of his legacy, and that appreciation comes through in a major way on arrangements of "Tanguedia," "Romance Del Diablo," and other gems by Piazzolla (whose risk-taking approach to tango generated as much controversy in tango circles as Charlie Parker, Ornette Coleman, and John Coltrane did in jazz). But as passionately as Burton expresses his love of Piazzolla's distinctive music, the vibist's own identity doesn't become buried or obscured.

This Candy's CD features funky light jazz, hip dance grooves, whatever you want to call. It makes you want to get out of the chair and boogy. This work is good from start to finish.

2009 year marks Loussier’s 75th birthday, and the fiftieth anniversary of his Play Bach Trio. The ageless Frenchman has been industrious since un-retiring a few years back, and here he plays with the energy of a 25-year-old. The seemingly impossible combination of motorific rhythmic intensity and relaxed, playful swing sounds as fresh as ever. Here he performs a few favourites and pieces he’s never recorded before. Highlights include a complete arrangement of the Toccata and Fuge in C major, and a delicious live reading of Choral No 1. ‘Sleepers Awake’.
