When Frank Zappa teamed up with renowned conductor Kent Nagano and the London Symphony Orchestra for three days in January 1983, he was expecting to walk away with a set of stellar performances of some of his most challenging contemporary classical pieces, as done by one of the world's top symphonic ensembles. What he got instead were bad attitudes, terrible work habits, unforgiving union stipulations and a hard lesson in preconceived notions – showing him that working with unschooled but enthusiastic rock musicians also had its advantages, and giving rise to his well-documented love/hate (mostly hate) relationship with symphony orchestras thereafter.

=)) If you like either Bluegrass or Metallica, you will love these CD!

Leslie Jones (1905-1982) is hardly a household name in the world of classical music. But he was hugely important in developing the way we listen to and appreciate music today. His neglect in recent years is probably due to the fact that he had a somewhat unorthordox career – a lawyer who dedicated himself to professional music making in his retirement. In the 1960s, he established The Little Orchestra of London which consisted of top London freelance players. Jones was at the forefront of the movement to reduce the size of orchestras for performances of 18th and 19th century music and an early adopter of period performance practice, long before it became part of the mainstream several decades later. His LP recordings were illuminating in their interpretation of familiar repertoire.

…Rediscovered after 40 years in the vaults, these priceless recordings of legendary blues artists have been lovingly remastered for the DVD format. Between 1962 and 1966 huge tours were undertaken by the likes of Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, Memphis Slim, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, and many others. A popular stop-gap on the tour was a small TV studio in Germany, where the acts would record their songs for posterity. It is from these shows that the recordings contained within are from. An amazing document of a historic time, rediscover these bluesmen in the flesh as they take to the stage in their prime.

The History of the Trio goes back to the year 1950. The place was Prades in the eastern Pyrenees in France. The occasion was a festival commemorating the bicentenary of J.S. Bach's death. The focus of the event was Pablo Casals, who had, through the persuation of Alexander Schneider, agreed to lead the festival and make music again after a self-imposed exile, assumed final.

The first volume of ‘Selected Percussive Tracks…’ begins to collect some of the myriad material Paw Grabowski aka øjeRum has created over the last 25 years. Known primarily as a collage artists and practitioner of some of the most lauded and admired ambient music being created today. With ‘Selected Percussive Tracks…’ the velveteen warmth often associated with Paw’s music is still there but as was seen on his first Opal release ‘Through The Archway Of Mouths’ minimal, rhythmic features start to become the force of momentum in a music which often feels endless and gaussian. The six pieces on Vol. I date back to 1998 to 2001 and confirm the long standing aesthetics with which øjeRum has stuck to for the following 20+ years.
