Observation and Control of Magnetic Order Dynamics by Terahertz Magnetic Nearfield

Observation and Control of Magnetic Order Dynamics by Terahertz Magnetic Nearfield by Takayuki Kurihara
English | PDF | 2021 | 122 Pages | ISBN : 9811687927 | 5.3 MB

This book explicates the optical controls of antiferromagnetic spins by intense terahertz (THz) electromagnetic waves. The book comprises two key components: (1) the experimental demonstration of the enhancement of a THz magnetic field using a split-ring resonator (SRR) and (2) the control of the direction of magnetization by using the enhanced THz magnetic field to break the symmetry of optically-induced phase transition. These make up the first step leading to future spintronics devices.

Magnetic Monopole Noise

Magnetic Monopole Noise by Ritika Dusad
English | PDF | 2021 | 83 Pages | ISBN : 3030581926 | 4.7 MB

This thesis presents the first ever measurement of the noise emitted by magnetic monopoles and the development of an exquisitely sensitive magnetic-field-noise spectrometer based on a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) that enabled it. Magnetic monopoles are highly elusive elementary particles exhibiting quantized magnetic charge.

Toroidal Order in Magnetic Metamaterials

Toroidal Order in Magnetic Metamaterials by Jannis Lehmann
English | PDF | 2022 | 185 Pages | ISBN : 3030854949 | 7.9 MB

The scope of this work is to provide an extensive experimental investigation of ferrotoroidicity, the most recently established type of ferroic order that is based on the uniform unit-cell-sized alignment of magnetic whirls. This is achieved by transferring basic spin configurations pertinent for the emergence of toroidal order to mesoscopic length scales. An engineering of and access to the system's magnetic degrees of freedom is made possible by using nanomagnetic arrays as model systems. The work reveals microscopic and macroscopic aspects of toroidally ordered matter beyond the reach of natural materials.
