The Marco Pignataro Almas Antiguas Quartet is evocative and powerful, blending modern jazz with shades of Mediterranean, folk, and Latin influences with lyrical melodies throughout. The band features Marco Pignataro on tenor and soprano saxophone, Alan Pasqua on piano, Eddie Gomez on bass, and Adam Cruz on drums. Pignataro is a multitalented saxophone player, composer, and educator. Together with Danilo Pérez, he leads the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI), a premier jazz center of musical creativity. Previously, Pignataro was director and cofounder of the Jazz and Caribbean Music Department and chair of the Jazz Saxophone Department at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. He maintains an active international schedule of concerts, recordings, and clinics, and has shared stages with artists such as Joanne Brackeen, George Garzone, John Patitucci, Rufus Reid, and Kenwood Dennard, among others.
