Building on the superlative reaction to Cairn, Forest Floor develops similar traits and characteristics but imbued with even greater maturity, interaction and vision. The Scottish folk influences developed in Cairn remain central and define Fergus’ and the trio’s sound.
Turas' is the debut album by the Fergus McCreadie Trio. The title of the album is the Scottish Gaelic word for Journey, and the feeling of travel and place is conveyed strongly throughout the compositions on the record. The Scottish wunderkind pianist’s second album, Cairn, looks set to establish his global presence as a composer, pianist and bandleader with its freshness of sound and originality. Rooted in the Scottish tradition and inspired by Scottish landscapes, Cairn combines contemporary, jazz and classical influences in a profound, mesmerising and compelling way. Fergus works with established trio of bassist David Bowden and drummer Stephen Henderson; Cairn is a testament to their instrumental command, originality and communication. In October 2020 Fergus was awarded Best Instrumentalist at the Scottish Jazz Awards.
