Just as White Zombie was on the verge of becoming the most popular metal band in the land, Rob Zombie decided he was an auteur. Stopping short of breaking up the band, Zombie set out to make sure everyone know that he was the main force in the band, as if there were any doubt in the first place. He did extracurricular animation, managed a band, started a record label, drew a sequence in Beavis & Butt-Head Do America, appeared in films, wrote the script for The Crow 3 (which he planned to direct), and most tellingly of all, he recorded a solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe. Since White Zombie was always his baby, it seems a little strange that he had the need to break away from the group, especially since the album sounds exactly like a White Zombie record, complete with thunderous industrial rhythms, drilling metal guitars, and B-movie obsessions.

John Fogerty pulled himself out of the game sometime after his 1976 album Hoodoo failed to materialize and he sat on the bench for a full decade, returning in the thick of the Reagan era with Centerfield in 1985. For as knowingly nostalgic as Centerfield is, deliberately mining from Fogerty’s childhood memories and consciously referencing his older tunes, the album is steeped in the mid-‘80s, propelled too often by electronic drums – the title track has a particularly egregious use of synthesized handclaps – occasionally colored by synths and always relying on the wide-open production that characterized the ‘80s…plus, there’s no denying that this is the work of a middle-aged baby boomer, romanticizing TV, rockabilly, baseball, and rock & roll girls…

“Sweetness rules on Colbie Caillat's debut, Coco, which is perhaps only appropriate for an album bearing that name, but the record doesn't play like a toasty mug of chocolate on a winter's day, it's a sugary lemonade on a breezy summer afternoon. It's light and comforting, a familiar blend of sunny pop and singer/songwriter tropes that flirt with cliche but never sound hackneyed”

Fela Kuti & Africa 70 - Na Poi/Zombie (1998) is a double single compilation by Fela Kuti, the Nigerian Afrobeat legend, and his band Africa 70. Originally recorded and released in the 1970s, Na Poi and Zombie became two of Fela's most iconic tracks, known for their biting political commentary, infectious Afrobeat rhythms, and their ability to captivate and provoke audiences. Released in 1998 as part of a reissue project, this album features two of Fela’s most well-known songs that have since become anthems of political resistance. Fela Kuti’s music, blending traditional African rhythms, jazz, funk, and highlife, always served as a vehicle for his outspoken political messages. Na Poi and Zombie are prime examples of how Fela used his music to critique the Nigerian government, social issues, and the military dictatorship of the time.

Classically trained multi-instrumentalist Sacha Puttnam joins electronica artist Chris Coco for this update of the classical-music canon. REMASTERPIECE contains compositions by Robert Schumann, Gustav Mahler, Fryderyk Chopin, and Claude Debussy, among others, as well as 20th-century, proto-ambient composers like Erik Satie and Arvo Part. Coco and Puttnam are quite faithful to the originals in spirit and in execution, and the entire album radiates with an ambient glow. Spare, minimal compositions (like Satie's "Berceuse" and Chopin's "Raindrop Prelude") are played with grace on solo piano, while symphonic pieces (like Mahler's "Adagietto") are filtered through lush synth textures.
