Kollar Attila is the flautist/flutist for Hungarian group Solaris. He released a new album which is a compilation of his work as a solo artist and also with Solaris. It is called "Progrock '55" and also contains seven previously unreleased tunes.
Kollar Attila: "This compilation was created from those songs where the author was me or I was one of the authors of these songs. It wasn’t so easy to chose 16 compositions from our last 36 years, because a lot of song are very close to my heart! But I know there are some real milestones during my musical career. The first five compositions of the album are definitly new songs or new recordings, which previously were not published…

As a unit, this must be one of the best piano trios ever, and certainly as instantly recognisable as any of its great predecessors. Charlap’s touch on the keyboard is light, almost stealthy, even when playing full chords, but always firm, clear and beautifully articulated. With the spirited support of bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington (famously unrelated), the total effect is just perfect. As always, Charlap’s playing provides convincing proof that it is still possible to create fresh but pertinent treatments of well-known standard songs. The son of a songwriter and a singer, he has an instinctive feel for the idiom. His versions here of I’ll Remember April and A Sleepin’ Bee are masterly.

Instrumental 4-piece Tides From Nebula are back with their new studio album Safehaven. Contrary to their former work with Zbigniew Preisner (Earthshine) and Christer Cederberg (Eternal Movement) the album is completely self-produced this time. "This is going to be our 4th release and we are extremely happy to share it with our fans", states the band. "In the past we have worked with acclaimed producers who taught us so much that this time we felt we were ready to take that task upon ourselves. UK band Red Bazar was formed back in 2007 by Paul Comerie, Andy Wilson and Mick Wilson. The outfit released two studio albums and one EP as an instrumental trio, but by 2013 the more frequent use of keyboards in their material led to the addition of keyboardist Gary Marsh towards the end of that year, and then collaborative work with composer and vocalist Peter Jones (Tiger Moth Tales) eventually led to him becoming a part of the band as well. "Tales from the Bookcase" is the first album by Red Bazar as a five-man strong unit, and was released by the UK label White Knight Records in the spring of 2016. This album provides a top-notch blend of neo and art prog, this garnered with some remarkable heavy AOR edge here and there. Furthermore "Tales From The Bookcase" marks a successfull step away from a pure instrumental approach.
