Beginning with a crack of thunder, like it was made to trail Gary Bartz's "Mother Nature" (actually recorded at a slightly later date), Stepping into Tomorrow contains almost all of the Mizell trademarks within its title track's first 30 seconds: a soft and easy (yet still funky) electric-bass-and-drums foundation, silken rhythm guitar, organ and piano gently bouncing off one another, light synthesizer shading, and coed group vocals to ensure true liftoff.

Fairly to the day exactly 30 years after Philipp Fankhauser's first album BLUES FOR THE LADY with star guest Margie Evans, his 16th record will be released. From December 13, 2019, he will go on tour with the new songs. Let Life Flow brings a few surprises - musical, stylistic, linguistic and personal. Philipp Fankhauser is and remains a blues musician with heart and soul. That time for general reassurance. But what he started with his last album "I'll Be Around" in 2017, he continues with a sense for subtle nuances. The soul-soaked blues continues to be his strong point and the Try-My-Love-esque Fankhauser / Walker ballads are not missing on his new album.

"I stand on the sunny side of life!" Said Philipp Fankhauser recently. In fact, at the age of thirteen, he claimed he would become a blues singer. Today, forty years later, he has a thirty-year career as a highly successful blues singer behind him. He recorded with Margie Evans, toured the USA with blues legend Johnny Copeland, regularly stormed the hit parades in Switzerland with his last four albums (including Love Man Riding and Try My Love) and filled concert halls up country. «I have experienced a lot and am very grateful for everything!»

No girl singer achieved the world wide star status of an Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra and no girl group had anything like as sustained a run of hits as a Drifters or Four Tops. But in that heady decade between 1953 and 1962, the girl singers were no less important in the world of entertainment. Country music was full of girl singers, girls could handle a ballad just as well as the boys and many were recipients of songs by some of pop music’s legendary songsmiths of the day. On More Lipstick, Powder & Paint (sequel to Lipstick, Powder & Paint FVTD194), you’ll find classic songs, readily recognisable names, as well as lost gems from country, pop and R&B and a few that we hope will be a revelation for you. Prepare to step back in time…and be royally entertained.
