"And again a new piano album" says Martin Tingvall's website. The Swedish jazz pianist and songwriter will present his fourth album on his own in 2021: "When Light Returns". The last album "The Rocket" was released in 2019, which landed at number one on the German jazz charts, and in 2020 the long player "Dance" was released together with his trio.

Seine Kompositionen nehmen sich Ruhe und Zeit, der Hörer wird von Tingvall in Stimmungen entführt, die jeder in sich trägt. When Martin Tingvall released his first solo album, ‟en ny dag”, back in 2012, he intentionally presented a new facet of his artistic creativity: let’s call it ‛the quiet side.‘ The German weekly DIE ZEIT praised the album as ‟soul-searching, reserved, movingly serene” and verified that ‟Tingvall gathers up jazz aficionados at the point where Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea once left them …” FAZ, another German newspaper, added: ‟Tingvall‘s lyrical style endeavors to reinforce our faith in the unassuming.” The poetry with which Martin Tingvall touched his listeners struck a nerve with an audience bent on barricading itself for a moment against being inundated with information and superlatives vying to outdo each other.

Alongside Martin Tingvall on piano, who gave the trio it's name, we have Omar Rodriguez Calvo on double bass and Jürgen Spiegel in his realm of drums and percussion. These three musicians based in Hamburg, Germany have managed to write a success story over all the years that is hard to match: multiple ECHO JAZZ Awards as ensemble and Live Act of the Year, a total of six JAZZ Awards in Gold, two Impala Awards for international sales, a whole series of No. 1 Jazz Chart albums, and four times with high rankings on the German Top 100 Album Charts.
