This unique documentary tells the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s extraordinary life. The video utilizes photos and rare film footage to explore the civil rights activist's ideas and numerous accomplishments before his tragic death at the hands of an assasin. This video concentrates on the Civil Rights leader's many groundbreaking accomplishments. The narrarated and mostly black and white footage/photos cover Dr. King's war on poverty and his staunch opposition to the Vietnam War. Also included is some of his stirring "I Have a Dream" speech and details of his involvement in the Memphis sanitation workers' strike in March and April of 1968.

To mark 50 years since the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King on April 4, 1968, Trevor McDonald travels to America's Deep South in the hope of getting closer to the man who meant so much to him and so many others. He uncovers new sides to the story, speaks to a former member of the Ku Klux Klan and interviews an expert on the horrors of lynching in 20th-century America. He also asks some of black role models, including Naomi Campbell, General Colin Powell and the Rev Al Sharpton, what Martin Luther King means to them.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s family comes together for the first time to share their reflections and memories of the great civil rights leader. Included are contributions from his sister (the only surviving member of his immediate family), his children, his in-laws, his nieces and nephews, and even his grandchildren, who, although they never met him, explain what his legacy means to them. Unlike the iconic persona normally associated with the man, the book presents a more personal, warm, and loving portrait: wrestling with his brother on the bed (despite their being in their thirties), sneaking naps during holiday meals, as well as playing games with his nieces and nephews.
