Guitarist Michael Schenker's solo work never equaled the consistently high songwriting standards of his UFO heyday, when vocalist Phil Mogg served as both a capable collaborator for the mad axeman's daunting talents, and stubborn editor for his raging egomania. (Of course Mogg had an even harder time steering UFO post-Schenker, but that's an entirely different review). But when left to his own devices, his bull-headed ways would result in equal amounts of brilliant and dismal moments. As such, this collection provides a great service by presenting only the very best MSG material available. These include major hits like "Armed and Ready," "Cry for the Nations," and "Attack of the Mad Axeman," as well as a generous helping from overlooked third album Assault Attack (the only one featuring journeyman vocalist Graham Bonnett), including the stunning "Desert Song." This is the place to start.
Japanese edition with two bonus tracks.
There are few rock guitarists on this planet who have had such a lasting influence on so many renowned musicians as Michael Schenker. With his outstandingly fluid style, inexhaustible wealth of ideas and instinctive feel for hooks and melodies, Michael Schenker is a living legend who, despite his longstanding and distinguished history, still impresses with his unflagging energy and drive. The blond axeman from Sarstedt began his international career in the early 1970s with the Scorpions, achieved worldwide fame after joining British rock group U.F.O. and then seamlessly continued his exceptional global success story under his own name, as well as with acts such as Michael Schenker Group (MSG for short), Temple Of Rock and Michael Schenker Fest…

Label description: MSG is a legendary name. After two phenomenal records under the guise of Michael Schenker Fest, a true guitar hero is returning to his roots. By forming Michael Schenker Group (MSG) back in 1979, Michael Schenker laid the foundations for one of hard rock's most glorious solo careers of all times. And while nobody expected anything less from a former guitarist for Scorpions and UFO, it's close to impossible mentioning everything Michael has built over the past 50 years, or the countless people he influenced or played with. This, truly, is the stuff that hard rocking myths are made of.
The party was beautiful but it is already over. The Michael Schenker Fest lived to give back the place to the legendary MSG after more than ten years of silence: "Immortal" marks the 50th anniversary of the German guitarist's career. In relation to the Fest, Schenker has renewed its line up by inviting Ronnie Romero, Joe Lynn Turner, Ralf Scheepers and Michael Voss to sing. For the music he invited Simon Philipps and Brian Tichy on drums, Barry Sparks on bass and Steve Mann and Derek Sherinian on keyboards…
The Michael Schenker Group - Hard rock band based in Germany. Existed from 1979 until 1985, revived 1996. The only consistent member is Michael Schenker and the band could also be seen as his solo project.
Do not confuse with McAuley Schenker Group. Both bands use the abbreviation MSG, but are considered different bands.
