Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Scotland's Lorne Balfe is a Grammy Award-winning composer and producer known for his various film, television, and video game scores. Born in Inverness, Scotland in 1976, Balfe grew up in a musical family and began playing piano at a young age. A gifted musician, by his teens he was making a living writing jingles for commercials, a skill he quickly transitioned into scoring music for TV shows. After a period living in London, he relocated to California, where he joined the staff at composer Hans Zimmer's Santa Monica-based Remote Control Productions. Working with Zimmer, he earned credits for such notable productions as Batman Begins, The Da Vinci Code, Transformers, and more.

The full details of the soundtrack album for Mission: Impossible – Fallout have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Home, Terminator Genisys, The Crown, Genius, Pacific Rim Uprising). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. A CD version will be released later this month by La-La Land Records and is available for pre-order here. Mission: Impossible – Fallout is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Cavill, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Vanessa Kirby, Sian Brooke, Angela Bassett and Sean Harris. The sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible series will be released in theaters nationwide on July 27 by Paramount Pictures.

Lorne Balfe, who composed the score for the predecessor, returned to provide music for the two-part series of Dead Reckoning. The soundtrack to the film will be released digitally on July 12, 2023 alongside the film by Sony Music Entertainment and Paramount Music, with a physical release to be followed on July 26, by La-La Land Records. The album was recorded in various parts of Europe with 500 musicians performing the score. The opening titles of the film released as a single on July 6.

An Oscar- and Emmy-nominated film and television composer, classical composer, and acclaimed jazz pianist, Lalo Schifrin emerged as a big-band leader in the mid-'50s, collaborating with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Xavier Cugat before beginning to score films in the mid-'60s. His iconic theme to TV's Mission: Impossible was first broadcast in 1966. Following in the footsteps of John Barry and Monty Norman's "James Bond Theme," its orchestral jazz instrumentation (including prevalent flutes, brass, piano, bongos, and jazz drums) and adrenalized staccato, syncopated rhythms helped to define spy music for decades to follow. Much like contemporaries Michel Legrand, Henry Mancini, and André Previn, while he wrote in a variety of styles, Schifrin remained best known for his jazz-inflected scores.
