Pendant plus de dix ans, le réalisateur Laurent Cibien a filmé Edouard Philippe, un ami de lycée, aujourd'hui âgé de 45 ans et professionnel aguerri de la politique. Il a ainsi pu observer comment ce politicien de droite, tendance Juppé, a fait campagne pour conserver son siège de maire du Havre. Un sujet de documentaire délicat pour Laurent Cibien, qui doit trouver le bon angle et le bon équilibre, entre la complicité qui l'unit à son ami de longue date et la distance nécessaire du cinéaste, fort de ses convictions de gauche. A travers le parcours d'Edouard, le réalisateur cherche avant tout à comprendre la fabrique du pouvoir dans la France d'aujourd'hui.

Protagonista del film Sposami, Stupido! è Yassine (Tarek Boudali), un giovane studente del Marocco, da poco trasferitosi a Parigi per studiare architettura. A causa di una sveglia che non suona, il giovane non si presenta a un esame e perde il visto per studenti e si ritrova a essere un immigrato illegale - Yassine, jeune étudiant marocain vient à Paris faire ses études d’architecture avec un visa étudiant. Suite à un événement malencontreux, il rate son examen, perd son visa et se retrouve en France en situation irrégulière. Pour y remédier, il se marie avec son meilleur ami.

Writer Georges Duroy (George Sanders) is one social-climbing S.O.B. who does most of his climbing over the warm (and cold) bodies of women. He begins with Rachel (Marie Wilson), a hanger-on in the cafes and Folies Bergere crowd, and then moves on to dally with Clotilde de Morelle (Angela Lansbury). Always striving to move upward on the social scale, he ditches her to marry Madeleine Forestier (Ann Dvorak). Now he gets on the fast track. He persuades Madame Walter (Katherine Emery), the wife of his publisher, to fall in love with him, and then compromises Madeleine to frame a divorce, so he can pursue Madame Walter's daughter, Suzanne (Susan Douglas, before somebody decided her later-married name was her most-often used screen name). He moves along so well that ere long he is in legal position to usurp the title of one of France's most noble houses. The moral, at the end, is it is okay to mess with French women, but triffling with French titles is going too far.
