This is an excellent single CD collection from "The Queen Of Disco". There are many hits on this one but my personal favorite is, "I Feel Love". I don't have neighbors. If you don't either…… Crank it up!!
Edith Piaf is almost universally regarded as France's greatest popular singer. Still revered as an icon decades after her death, "the Sparrow" served as a touchstone for virtually every chansonnier, male or female, who followed her. Her greatest strength wasn't so much her technique, or the purity of her voice, but the raw, passionate power of her singing. (Given her extraordinarily petite size, audiences marveled all the more at the force of her vocals.) Her style epitomized that of the classic French chanson: highly emotional, even melodramatic, with a wide, rapid vibrato that wrung every last drop of sentiment from a lyric…
Dan Hamilton, Joe Frank Carollo, and Tommy Reynolds played together in a variety of Los Angeles groups, scoring a hit as part of the T-Bones, a studio group whose "No Matter What Shape Your Stomach's In" was based on a popular Alka Seltzer jingle. Inspired by the summery AM radio pop of Three Dog Night, the trio formed the extremely similar Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds in 1970, signed with Dunhill Records and immediately scored a Top Five hit with "Don't Pull Your Love (Out)."
For over 20 years, Bob Seger was one of the best mainstream rock & rollers in America, developing a distinctive body of honest, hard-rocking songs. More songs than can be put on this single-disc set, unfortunately.
Andy Williams is the American singer whose voice was described by Ronald Reagan as "a national treasure". His gold and platinum albums testify to his enduring appeal among a public who love a bit of crooning. His career began as one of a quartet, The Williams Brothers, and they were successful enough to appear with Bing Crosby on the single "Swinging on a Star". By 1952 his brothers left the act and Williams was solo. His early releases failed to perform well but he finally hit the top spot of the charts with "Butterfly". This unleashed a series of chart successes for him.
A good CD if you just want a taste of Sledge and an easy way to find "When a Man Loves a Woman" when you need a refresher. Also includes "Warm and Tender Love" and a rendition of Otis Redding's "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay."
