In spite of all the reasons to be angry in this world of ours, Naïssam Jalal has chosen not to seethe, but to soothe. Free and nomadic, Naïssam Jalal plays with everyone and plays with all musical categories. From jazz to rap, from traditional music to contemporary crossbreeding, she performs with many talented musicians from all walks of life. After having created the duo Noun Ya with the oudist and guitarist Yann Pittard (with whom she recorded the album Aux resistances in 2009), then participated in the Jasmin project of double bass player Hubert Dupont in tribute to the "Jasmin Revolution" (superb album in 2013), it is quite logical that the flautist created in 2011 a set in his image, the aptly named Naïssam Jalal & Rhythms of Resistance.

Dans cette nouvelle création, la flutiste Naïssam Jalal réunit le pianiste Leonardo Montana et le contrebassiste Claude Tchamitchian à la recherche de l’Invisible. Ce nouveau répertoire est à la croisée des musiques mystiques extra occidentales et traditionnelles et du jazz modal. Le silence y possède une place centrale, le rythme mène toujours vers la transe dans une forme répétitive et hypnotique, parfois la voix vient prêter main forte aux instruments pour entrer en contact avec l’Invisible en le nommant. Une création qui oscille entre contemplation et transe, silence et musique.

The repertoire of this second album is a continuation of the first. My approach has not changed, I'm always looking for a music rooted in non-Western musical traditions and turned towards the unknown, this new music that we created in spontaneity. My music is a reflection of this mad world of extreme violence and beauty. She talks about the rage, the revolt, the pain and the war but also the love and the courage of the men and women with whom I have the feeling to share an identity, a will or just a hope. I speak of the pain of a people because it is also my pain, the courage of a village because I admire it, or a love that I have lived because others have experienced it also. I express feelings that belong to everyone because they belong to me too, or personal stories that could be those of others.
