Never Too Far by Dianne Reeves (1989)

To catch Dianne Reeves singing on stage is to witness one of the most captivating vocalists on the international music scene today. Through her majestic alto, conversational phrasing and improvisational agility, she delves deep inside each song, unveiling its universal themes in a repartee with her own revelations. Millie Jackson was a consistent presence on the American R'n'B charts throughout the 70s and 80s, scoring several top 10 hits and receiving multiple Grammy nominations. That all came to a screeching halt, however, with the release of 1989's "Back To The Shit". The fabulous cover caused a scandal but it was the album's shocking subject matter that triggered the biggest backlash. Millie's gutter mouth and saucy lyrics had made her famous but the general consensus was that she had finally gone too far by talking about getting head from lesbians, dildos, morning flatulence, oral sex, douching and "starchy" toilet seats! Time has taken the edge off some of the material but "Back To The Shit" is still outrageous even by today's standards.

Quality is laced throughout It’s Never Too Late, the first regular studio album featuring Tommy Emmanuel completely solo without guests since 2000. A friend and follower of the late Chet Atkins – who christened Emmanuel a Certified Guitar Player, making him one of only five musicians to receive the C.G.P. distinction from the master – Emmanuel easily skates between musical styles, playing with blues in “One Mint Julep,” infusing Spanish tradition in “El Vaquero” and exploring folk in “The Duke.”

Seven years in the making, Never Too Late To Call features all original material, some songs written by Thorn, others co-written with his friend and longtime manager Billy Maddox. The album was recorded at Sam Phillips Studio in Memphis and produced and engineered by Grammy winning wunderkind Matt Ross-Spang.

One of the Blues world’s greatest guitarists Charlie Baty has sadly passed away at age 66. His last recordings with Sugar Ray And The Bluetones will be released May 8th 2020.

Never Too Much is the debut solo studio album by American singer-songwriter Luther Vandross. It peaked at number 19 on the Billboard 200, peaked at number one on the R&B Albums chart, and went double platinum by the RIAA. The album earned Vandross two Grammy Award nominations in 1982 - "Best New Artist" and "Best R&B Vocal Performance / Male".

Featuring a collection of 18 recordings and storied collaborations with some of his favorite female musicians, the new album stands as a testament to the generation and genre-spanning brilliance that has defined Kweskin's illustrious career for the past six decades. Throughout the album, recorded almost completely in one or two takes, Kweskin showcases the captivating, boundless essence of his artistry alongside guests such as Maria Muldaur, who first worked with Kweskin in the 1960s as part of Jim Kweskin & The Jug Band. Other special appearances include Samoa Wilson and Meredith Axelrod, who have released LPs with Kweskin throughout the years, while Rose Guerin and Juli Crockett have been frequent performers at his concerts on both the East and West coasts.

The Living Strings were group of string instruments, including the Living Voices, Living Trio, Living Pianos etc. The arrangements they did were breathtaking and picturesque. A background of splashes of water and seagulls accompany their version of "La Mer or Beyond The Sea." Although from England, the Living Strings did versions of many American musicals and popular songs like "Moon River" etc. There were many similar artists that composed for the Beautiful Music category, once a regular sound on fm radio everywhere. The Living Strings was and remains to be an enjoyable alternative, to the big band sound and quiets the nerves better than any music of today.
