In Italia esistono mille modi diversi per convincere qualcuno a desistere dal fare qualcosa. Il romano Gnafà, il perentorio veneto Non se pol, il laconico piemontese Niente da fé. Oscar Farinetti se l'è sentito dire spesso, ma ha avuto sempre la meglio la scimmietta un po' fuori di testa che da sessantasette anni vive sulla sua spalla e lo spinge costantemente verso nuove imprese. Alcune finite molto bene, altre meno. Sia Oscar sia la sua scimmietta sanno però che nella vita se non ci si mette in cammino non si arriva da nessuna parte, e che l'indecisione provoca uno stato di infelicità, per sé e per gli altri. “Bad decision is better than no decision” è una delle prime lezioni di questo libro: si prende una direzione e si tengono gli occhi bene aperti sulla strada. Troppo lavoro, poco lavoro, padroni egoisti, lavoratori scansafatiche, giovani indolenti, anziani egocentrici… Perché ci sentiamo sempre vittime di qualcun altro?

"Never Too Much" is the debut solo album by American singer-songwriter Luther Vandross, released on August 12, 1981 (see 1981 in music). It peaked at #19 on the Billboard 200 (then known as Pop Albums), peaked at #1 on the R&B Albums chart, and went double Platinum by the RIAA. The album earned Vandross two Grammy Award nominations in 1982 - "Best New Artist" and "Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male". The album's title track topped the Black Singles chart for two weeks. Vandross's rendition of Dionne Warwick's 1964 "A House Is Not a Home" became one of his signature songs, and received attention for its transformation into an "epic", since its duration was extended to seven minutes.

Quiet Sun was Phil Manzanera's pre-Roxy Music band, with Bill MacCormick (Matching Mole / Random Hold), Charles Hayward (This Heat) and Dave Jarrett. A stunning, Psychedelically inclined Progressive Jazz Rock album, Mainstream was recorded 4 years after the band's break-up during the night-shift sessions for Manzanera's debut solo album, Diamond Head. Occasionally echoing the styles of early Soft Machine, Pink Floyd and King Crimson, and hinting at the ambition of the 801 project to come, Mainstream is the only remaining legacy of this great 'lost' British band.

Call this Evans Lite, or the Vanillification of Bill. Following in the footsteps of the showcase treatments afforded Verve labelmates Joe Henderson and Shirley Horn, this collection culls some of the more reflective solo moments with the exception of "Turn Out the Stars" and "Angel-Face," which feature guitarist Jim Hall from post-bop pianist Evans' '60s catalog. The usual caveat regarding thematically skewed samplings applies here, i.e., without the hard swinging yang of a One for Helen to complement the yin of the more treacly fare, the uninitiated may come away from this nine-track compilation convinced that Evans is only a gifted purveyor of pleasant, if innocuous, dinner music. Strictly for the musical dilettante for whom time, and/or interest in the genre, is at a premium.

The Stan Getz volume in Verve's Quiet Now series is a stellar collection of ballads from the '50s and '60s when Getz and his bands led jazz polls continually. His bossa material, which is his best known, is represented here by three cuts – and no, "Girl from Ipanema" is not one of them – including "Corcovado." That said, it's his interpretations of standards such as "Little Girl Blue," "It Never Entered My Mind," "Sweet Rain," and "Serenade in Blue" that the great tenorman's true lyrical gift comes into play.

Hungarian Jazz/Fusion band Djabe and Steve Hackett collaborated on various occasions and have released a couple of albums together, such as Summer Storms And Rocking Rivers (iTunes Link) and the more recent Life Is A Journey. On 15th February, Djabe released yet another interesting live CD/DVD digipak: It Is Never The Same Twice. It contains two recordings: The CD was recorded at Ady House of Culture in Miskolc (8th June 2017), while the DVD was recorded in Budapest, Jazz Club, 3rd June 2017. Both recording feature Djabe and guest musicians Gulli Briem and Steve Hackett.
