Recorded live at the Gaumont Theatre, Ipswich in spring 1984 this superb film of the 'Hawks' features their most eccentric of front men Nik Turner in fine form. Resembling a creation from one of Dr.Who's least convincing episodes, Turner wanders around the stage like a maniac, motor -mouthing his way through what is a truly impressive set of some of Hawkwind's best material…

Digitally re-mastered edition of the groundbreaking 1981 debut from this British Metal band. Night of the Demon was the album that first introduced the songwriting talents of Dave Hill and Mal Spooner to the world. Dark, occult-based lyrical themes make up half the album, and the whole concept was shrouded in mystery at the time of it's original release. Still regarded as a classic over two decades later.

Review by Timothy Monger
As the '70s came to a close, an emerging crew of female rock artists and bandleaders began to populate the airwaves. From the punk attitude of the Patti Smith Group and Chrissie Hynde's Pretenders to all-female guitar bands like the Go-Go's and the Bangles, these bold artists set out to ensure that women would no longer be marginalized or under-represented in the rock industry. She Rocks: The '80s Wave of Women Rockers collects 15 cuts from some of the '80s most inspiring women. Trailblazing singers with a unique style like Cyndi Lauper and Kirsty MacColl are featured here alongside bands led by strong frontwomen like the B-52s and 'Til Tuesday. These women set the stage for both equality and the high quality of women rockers who would follow their example in the coming decades.

Subtitled 100 Hits Of 80 Years Of The Last Century (???), Greatest Hits Of The 80s is a compilation released in 2017, featuring some of the best hit songs of the 1980's decade plus a few obscurities you may have forgotten or didn't know about. What is also not known: why a Marilyn Monroe look-alike is on the cover promoting an album with 1980's music but perhaps it's a Def Leppard/"Photograph" reference, actual reason is unknown.

If there is one Mendelssohn symphonic recording that makes the case for a more favorable reassessment [of the composer], it's this pairing of the Italian Symphony and some of the Midsummer Night's Dream music by Sir Charles Mackerras…. The clarity of texture here [in the Symphony] is extraordinary, even when the brass and winds add their clout. As a result, every line of Mendelssohn's orchestration comes through clearly, leaving a listener with a renewed respect for this composer's inventiveness…. The Midsummer Night's Dream music is even more miraculous….
