Noryang: Jukeumeui Bada

The album's title is a reference to the mixtape AmeriKKKan Korruption by his late friend and Pro Era cohort Capital STEEZ and it will be released on the 5-year anniversary of the project. The titles of both projects contain a reference to the debut studio album by Los Angeles-based gangsta rapper Ice Cube "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" that intentionally misspelled the word "America" with three Ks alluding to the white supremacist Ku Klux Klan.

John McLaughlin’s 2008 Abstract Logix CD Floating Point and its companion DVD Meeting Of The Minds featured some of India’s contemporary musician’s playing over Western music styles and forms (i.e. chord progressions). One of the standout performers on those sessions was drummer Ranjit Barot; who plays with a dynamically propulsive style that seamlessly emerges Eastern rhythms with jazz swing, R&B backbeats, fusion flash – and everything in between. I became an instant fan of his playing, and hoped to hear more of Ranjit’s music as a band leader. That hope is now a reality with the release of Ranjit Barot’s debut CD on Abstract Logix, Bada Boom. Bada Boom is not a typical “East meets West” project where the Eastern music component plays a minor or “decorative” role.

The band plays Jump blues and swing, are full of hassle, and take the audience back to the 50s and 60s (remember dance shoes!) Simply a deadly band!
Lady J is renowned for her style, her red dresses and reap a great applause for surprise scenes - both musically and visually. She pours in rockabilly and old jazz about the occasion, and takes inspiration from artists like Candye Kane and Imelda May.
