Nostalgia

This is Africa seen and described through the eyes of a wildlife photographer. Feel the sensation of breathing the air, admire the fiery skies, and observe the daily activities of Africa's animals, frequently caught in unusual poses. This film shuns the spectacle of animals suffering and dying in favor of striking colors and the light, smells, and landscapes unique to this continent.

A manor is rigged with surveillance cameras and contributors fitted with observational devices. Six unwitting participants are invited to take part in a range of group activities, from a flirty singles night to an awkward team-building weekend. From inside an observational room, Dr. Michael Mosley and a team of experts analyse their every move.

Directed by enigmatic and brilliant documentary essayist Chris Marker, THE OWL’S LEGACY is an intellectually agile, engaging, and sometimes biting look at ancient Greece, its influences on Western culture and how many eras have reinterpreted the Greek legacy to reflect their own needs. Each of the 13 episodes is centered on a potent Greek word: from “democracy” and “philosophy” to “mythology” and “misogyny”. Marker convenes and films symposia meals featuring wine and thoughtful conversation in locales including Paris, Tokyo, Tbilisi, Berkeley and an olive grove on the outskirts of Athens.

Chris Lintott chats to Nicky about her early years growing up in Hitchin in Hertfordshire and discovers how she fell in love with the stars. Maggie Aderin-Pocock takes Nicky on a trip down memory lane. Both women studied physics at Imperial College London from the late 80s to early 90s. As they revisit familiar haunts, they discuss their experiences, and Maggie finds out about Nicky's love of astrophysics, the challenges she overcame and how she landed a dream job at NASA.
